Unfortunately RDM comes at a steep price but in my opinion it's well worth the cost of making MWO fun again.Īs has been said before, the best defenses against LRMs are Cover and ECM, however AMS can help especialy if there are a lot of AMS,

Basically it makes normal cover useful and doesn't force you to find a nuclear fallout shelter - just to clarify you still need to learn how to use cover but tactical movement is part of the fun (and can go horribly wrong ). So if you want to take a brawler build for a spin the solution is the Radar Deprivation Module.

Before the speed increase patch breaking LoS and getting into cover was pretty valid even at medium distances by now it's a gamble. Their trajectory means you need cover around three times the height of your mech - which can be pretty hard to find. Besides chances are good you run out of ammo before your enemy does. AMS takes up valuable tonnage and it's not half as effective as the pro-LRM crowd makes it out to be - unless you got a train of heavily AMS-equipped mechs going it barely makes a dent in the massive >40 salvoes. They are lightning fast bend ridicolously around cover have nearly unlimited ammo in a dedicated LRM-boat build, and apart from ECM (which is rather unreliable unless you mount it yourself or have a good 4-man going) there are no real countermeasures.

They got a massive unnecessary speed increase a few patches back which made them the "click -> profit" weapon of choice combined with some LRM-heavy trial mechs it made me actually drop the game for a few months.ĭo not fall into the "L2P - noob" - trap if you like to get up close or even in medium ranges LRMs will tear you a new one. Depending on your playstile LRMs can be horribly OP.
